Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside.
Cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and light brown sugar for about a minute until light and fluffy. Add in the milk and vanilla extract and mix to combine
Add the flour, baking soda, and salt to the bowl and mix until the dough forms. Lastly, fold in the chocolate chips.
Scoop the dough using a medium cookie scoop and roll into balls. Place the rolled dough a few inches apart onto the prepared baking sheet. Top the dough with more chocolate chips, if desired.
Bake the cookies for 12-14 minutes. The edges of the cookies should be just starting to turn a light golden brown. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes, then transfer them to a cooling rack to finish cooling completely.
