Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a standard-sized loaf pan and line with parchment paper, if desired.
In a large bowl, whisk together the dark brown sugar, melted butter, eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and almond extract, until everything is combined.
Add in the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Whisk together until the dry ingredients are incorporated and the batter is smooth.
Pour into the prepared loaf pan. Top with sliced almonds.
Bake for 52-55 minutes. A toothpick should come out clean. Once baked, let the bread cool completely before slicing.
