WHAT'S GREAT ABOUT THIS CAKE
It's a one bowl cake recipe! This cake is super-duper simple to make. And the best part? The cake batter can be made in just one bowl! Because fewer dishes is always a good thing.
It's not too sweet. I don't know about you, but when I hear milk chocolate, I think sweeeet. Even with the chocolate chips and milk chocolate frosting, this cake has such great balance of flavors. The salt and buttermilk in this recipe help make the cake not overpoweringly sweet.
You can make the cake in advance! When I make this cake, I bake the cake the day before most of the time. Bake it, cool it, and wrap it in tightly in plastic wrap. You can store it in the refrigerator or at room temp overnight. If you refrigerate it, allow it to sit out for an hour or two to come to room temperature before serving.
