Today we're putting a delicious spin on a classic treat, and we're making cookies and cream puppy chow! We're taking two well-loved desserts, Oreos and puppy chow into something delicious. These little cereal pieces are coated in an Oreo cream white chocolate and then tossed in powdered sugar and crushed Oreo cookies. But be warned... this puppy chow is so good, you won't be able to stop snacking on it!

INGREDIENTS FOR COOKIES AND CREAM PUPPY CHOW

One of the great things about puppy chow any of its variations is that you usually only need a few things to make it! And for this recipe, you only need four ingredients! Here's everything you'll need:

    • Rice Chex cereal

    • White chocolate

    • Oreo cookies

    • Powdered sugar

MAKING COOKIES AND CREAM PUPPY CHOW

While this recipe may seem intimidating or difficult, I promise you it's not! Begin by separating the cream from the Oreo cookies. Place the cookies in the bowl of a food processor, and the cream filling into a large microwave safe bowl. Once all the cookies are separated, crush the cookies in the food processor until you're left with a nice, coarse, sandy texture. Dump the cookie crumbs into a gallon-sized bag, along with the powdered sugar. Gently shake and combine them in the bag and set it aside.

To the bowl with the Oreo cream, add in the white chocolate chips. Microwave in 30 second increments stirring after each one, until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth. Add in the cereal a few cups at a time to the bowl and gently stir/fold to coat the cereal completely. Continue until all of the cereal has been added.

TIP: You can also split the powdered sugar mixture into two gallon-sized baggies for easier coating. Just divide the cookie powdered sugar mix equally in two large gallon-sized bags. Pour roughly equal amounts of cereal into each bag and follow the remaining instructions

Carefully dump the coated cereal into the powdered sugar bag. Keeping the air in the bag, seal it tight. Carefully shake the bag to coat the chocolate covered cereal. This will take a minute or so to make sure the cereal is coated completely. Pour the coated cereal onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Allow it to sit for 1-2 hours until completely dry. Once dry, store in an airtight container for up to 5 days!

TIPS FOR THE BEST PUPPY CHOW

I know this is a pretty easy recipe to throw together, but here are just a few tip and things you can do to get the best cookies and cream puppy chow possible.

•Melt the white chocolate and Oreo cream completely. To coat the cereal pieces, you want to make sure your mixture is completely melted and as smooth as possible. This will help ensure that all the pieces get covered nicely.

•Allow puppy chow to dry before storing in containers. You want your puppy chow to be totally dry before you transfer to a container to store it. I usually let it sit out for about 1-2 hours before putting it in a container.

•Toss in some more Oreos! To really drive home that cookies and cream goodness, you can totally add in some additional chopped Oreos or even some mini Oreos! This step is totally optional, but one that just adds a little something extra to your puppy chow.
