Chili is such a great fall food. I love how comforting a bowl of it can be on a cool, crisp day. And this chili is just as the name says-- a little sweet, a little spicy, and full of flavor. It's so tasty and simple to make, I promise you that this will become one of your favorite go-to fall meals.
MAKING SWEET AND SPICY TURKEY CHILI
if you've got an hour, you've got time to make this chili! So let's get started. Here's everything you'll need to make it:
• Ground turkey
• White onion
• Garlic cloves
• Diced tomatoes
• Tomato sauce + tomato paste
• Brown sugar
• Spices
• Hot sauce
• Beans
• Salt and pepper
MAKING SWEET AND SPICY TURKEY CHILI
This sweet and spicy turkey chili is a simple one pot meal, and is made in just three easy steps.
Step 1: Cook the ground turkey, chopped onion, and minced garlic for about 10 minutes until the meat is cooked and the onions are translucent. Drain any fat.
Step 2: Add everything else but the beans. Stir, cover, and let it cook on medium-low heat for about 30 minutes. Stir about halfway through.
Step 3: After 30 minutes, add in the beans. Stir, cover, and cook again for an additional 15 minutes.
And that's it! You're ready to eat!
SERVING THE CHILI
You can always just eat a bowl of chili as it is. But why would you not want to top it with a bunch of goodness?! Here are some of my favorite topping ideas to take your chili to the next level.
• Shredded cheddar cheese
• Sour cream
• Diced avocado
• Chopped cilantro or green onion
You can also serve it with tortilla chips, cornbread, or a giant piece of bread (because you need something to wipe the bowl clean with, right?!)
WHAT'S GREAT ABOUT SWEET AND SPICY TURKEY CHILI
Maybe I'm a little partial, but there are so many great things about this chili recipe.
1. It's ready in just about an hour. There is very little prep work that needs to be done. A lot of these ingredients are canned, and you can even use pre-chopped onions! It takes just under an hour from start to finish.
2. You can totally adjust the spiciness. Everyone has different tolerance levels when it comes to spice. If you're not a huge fan of heat, simply add less hot sauce, or omit it completely. If you like more heat, feel free to add more!
3. It makes a lot of chili! This recipe makes a decent amount of chili. It's great if you're feeding a group of people, or hoping for leftovers. If you don't think you can eat it all before it goes bad, you can freeze leftovers for 4-5 months!
