Not only are these little mousse cups delicious, but one of the best things is that they only require four ingredients! Here's everything you'll need to whip up a batch of them!
• Strawberry jello mix
• Water
• Pennsylvania Dutch Strawberries & Cream Liqueur
• Heavy whipping cream
• Fresh strawberries (optional)
HOW TO MAKE THE MOUSSE CUPS
These Boozy Strawberries & Cream Mousse Cups are so easy to make, you wouldn't believe it! Start by adding the strawberry jello powder into a large bowl. Boil the water, and add to the bowl of jello. Whisk until the jello is completely dissolved. Allow the mixture to come to room temperature, about 30 minutes.
While the jello mixture cools, make the whipped cream. Whip the heavy whipping cream for 3-5 minutes, until it forms stiff peaks. Once cooled, pour the Strawberries & Cream liqueur into the jello mixture and mix. Fold in the whipped cream little by little until completely combined and smooth.
Pour finished mousse mix into small glasses or dishes and pop into the fridge to chill for at least an hour. You can serve as is, or top with whipped cream and fresh strawberries. Keep chilled until ready to serve!
WHAT MAKES THESE MOUSSE CUPS BOOZY SO SPECIAL?
Yes, these strawberries & cream mousse cups are delicious. But what takes them to the next level is Pennsylvania Dutch Strawberries & Cream Liqueur. It's a deliciously sweet blend of locally sourced real dairy cream and fresh strawberry puree. This liqueur gives these mousse cups that extra "mmff" you're looking for in a simple dessert like this!
TIPS FOR MAKING MOUSSE CUPS
Make sure you let the Jello mixture cool completely. This is a very important step for the mousse cups. If the Jello mixture is too hot when adding in the liqueur and whipped cream, it can cause the final mixture to separate and not become nice and fluffy. Allowing it to cool completely will insure you end up with a super smooth mousse.
Use real whipping cream, not canned whipped cream. I know it sounds like a pain, but whipping up your own homemade whipped cream is super simple and takes just a few minutes. It is a lot sturdier than whipped cream in a can, and helps give the mousse body. I definitely recommend doing this as opposed to using store-bought canned whipped cream.
