I love using seasonal produce, and right now there are sooo many great fruits and veggies in season. You've got figs, different types of squash, pears, brussel sprout, but let's not forget two of my favorites... APPLES and CRANBERRIES! These two fruits are delicious on their own, but even better together, and this cranberry apple crisp is such a delicious pairing of them! It's sweet and tart, full of cozy spices like cinnamon and nutmeg, and covered with an incredibly tasty crunchy topping.

How to make cranberry apple crisp
This crisp is incredibly easy to make. You are going to need two bowls for this recipe. One will be for the cranberry apple filling, and the other will be for the crisp topping. Here's a list of the ingredients you'll need or the delicious fruit filling.
• Cranberries
• Apples
• Brown sugar
• Lemon juice
• Cornstarch
• Spices
• Salt
• Vanilla extract
Then for the crumb topping, here's what you'll need:
• All-purpose flour
• Old-fashioned rolled oats
• Slivered almonds
• Brown sugar
• Melted butter
• Cinnamon
• Vanilla extract
• Salt
For baking, you can use a range of baking dishes. You can use an 8x8, 9x9, or a standard sized pie dish. A glass baking dish is best for this recipe.

What kind of apples should I use?
I personally like using sweet and tart apples in my baked goods. For this crisp recipe, it calls for granny smith and honeycrisp apples. I recommend using the granny smith, but you can substitute the honeycrisp apple for something else like fuji, gala, etc.
Can I substitute the cornstarch?
Absolutely! Cornstarch is a great way to thicken lots of different sauces. If you need to substitute it, you can use flour, tapioca starch, or arrowroot starch instead. Just substitute for the same amount listed in the recipe.

Baking and serving the crisp
If you need to make it in advance, that's totally fine! You can make and assemble the crisp up to a day early, and keep it covered in the refrigerator until you're ready to bake it. Put it on the counter while the oven preheats, uncover, and you're ready to bake!
As far as serving goes, I definitely recommend serving this freshly baked and warm. The only thing that could make it better would be to serve it with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream on top (which is HIGHLY recommended!)
Hope you enjoy! ♥
