• Egg
• Vanilla extract
• Red food coloring
• White chocolate chips
MAKING RED VELVET COOKIES BARS
Now, let's get baking! These red velvet cookie bars are super easy to throw together, and are made in just a few steps! If you have a stand or hand mixer, that's all you will need to make these cookie bars.
To begin, start by creaming together your butter and sugars. Add in the egg, egg yolk, vanilla extract and food coloring. To the bowl, add in the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix until combined and all of the flour is combined. Fold in the white chocolate chips.
Dump the cookie dough into a prepared 9x9 baking pan greased or lined with parchment paper. Spread cookie dough evenly in the pan. Bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 25-27 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely before cutting into bars. Cut them into either 9 large bars, or 16 smaller bars!
TIPS AND TRICKS FOR THE BEST COOKIE BARS
• Use room temperature ingredients. When making things like cookies, you want to be sure your butter and eggs are room temperature. In doing so, your ingredients will mix together easier and will also yield the perfect consistency in your cookie bars.
• Use parchment paper. While it's not essential you use it, adding parchment paper to your pan will make it sooo easy to remove the cookie bars once they're baked.
• Cool the bars before slicing. Similar to cutting brownies, these bars can get a bit messy if you try to cut them when they're still really warm. I know it will be super tough to wait, but try to allow the cookies to cool before slicing into them.
• Jazz them up! This is a totally optional step. But, if you're making these for a special Valentine's Day treat, make them fun by adding some festive sprinkles to the tops of the cookie bars!
