The Most Perfect Giant Chocolate Chip Cookie

April 19, 2022 by Chrissy Leave a Comment

Have you ever asked yourself what could possibly be better than a chocolate chip cookie? Well, I have… and I have the answer for you. That answer is: A GIANT chocolate chip cookie. And you're just in luck, because I've got the easiest recipe for one.

An overhead shot of a giant chocolate chip cookie. It is sitting on a small silver cookie sheet lined with white parchment paper. A measuring cup with chocolate chips, white towel, glass of milk, and a whisk are placed on the sides of the cookie sheet.

INGREDIENTS FOR A GIANT CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE

Let's get baking! This giant chocolate chip cookie calls for all of the standard, classic ingredients as a normal batch of cookies would call for, just scaled back. Here is everything you'll need!

    • All-purpose flour

    • Baking powder

    • Salt

    • Unsalted butter

    • Granulated + light brown sugar

    • Egg yolk

    • Vanilla extract

    • Chocolate chips

All of the ingredients needed for a giant chocolate chip cookie are placed in small dishes and on a small silver cookie sheet. A white towel and whisk are laying next to the cookie sheet.

MAKING THE GIANT CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE

For this cookie, you are going to make it just like any other batch of chocolate chip cookies are. Mix together the melted butter and sugars combined. Add in the egg yolk and vanilla extract and mix to combine. Add in the flour, baking powder, and salt and mix until the dough forms. Fold in the chocolate chips.

Dump the cookie dough onto a small baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Form the dough into one big round ball (you can absolutely make this recipe into two larger cookies as opposed to one giant cookie, you will just have to adjust the baking time). Press more chocolate chips into the top of the dough, if desired. No chill time is needed for this cookie, so go ahead and pop it into a 350°F preheated oven, and bake for 20-21 minutes, until the edges are just starting to brown.

Once baked, allow to cool for about 5-10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack. Then, you can let it cool completely or enjoy it warm!

    WHAT'S GREAT ABOUT THIS COOKIE

Aside from the fact that it is a giant chocolate chip cookie the size of your face, there are other things that make this recipe a great one!

No mixer required! Since this cookie dough is made with melted butter, you don't need to cream together the butter and sugar! So because of that, this is a super easy recipe to make by hand with just a whisk.

There's no chill time needed. Once this cookie dough is made, it can go directly into the oven with no fridge time needed. You'll have a perfectly baked cookie before you know it! However, if your dough is too warm from the melted butter, you can pop the dough into the fridge for about 10 minutes; just long enough to form the dough into a ball.

It's the perfect size for 1-2 people! Sometimes, I just don't want to be bothered with making a whole batch of cookies and storing the leftovers. This giant chocolate chip cookie is the solution. It's basically a single serving cookie that's perfect to cure the sweet tooth of one to two people!

TIPS FOR THE BEST CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE

This recipe is super simple and comes together in just a few minutes, but here are a few things you can do to make sure you get the most delicious cookie possible.

    • Use your favorite chocolate chips. For this recipe, I used a mix of semisweet and bittersweet chocolate chips, but you can definitely use whatever chocolate you'd prefer!

    • Don't over bake the cookie. Like most cookies, over baking can cause your cookie to be too hard, crunchy, and dry. Be sure to keep an eye on your cookie towards the end of the baking time to make sure it's not in the oven too long. You want to pull it out when the edges are just starting to turn golden. It will continue to cook on the hot baking sheet for a few minutes once you pull it out of the oven.

If you decide to give this cookie a go, I hope it's everything you're hoping it will be! I know it definitely is for me 🙂

    Happy baking!
